As a fidgety high school student I first unrolled my mat next to my mom as she played her yoga VHS tapes. Although focus was difficult, the movement and strength in each pose fascinated me. Over the years, I came in and out of a regular practice but always found my way back onto my mat.
In 2014, with anxious curiosity and a supportive nudge from a friend, I took my first class in a studio. I was instantly hooked. Not only did I discover my strong, confident, playful side, but I also found a community of likeminded individuals who shared my passion for yoga.
But the discovery didn’t stop there. After developing injuries from a serious car accident, I was forced to take my practice back to square one. Having to find patience and relearn every pose in my healing body, I developed a renewed sense of self-love and dove deeper into the mental side of my practice. It was here that I truly became aware of just how important yoga is to me and how influential it can be. I just knew I had to share this with others.
As fate would have it, I met Victoria Arvizu during one of her workshops in Chicago and instantly fell in love with her vibrancy, strength, humor and lightness. In that moment, I knew deeply that I had found my teacher. A year later I followed her to Costa Rica to earn my RYT 200 under High Energy Fusion Yoga.
Nestled in Milwaukee, I share my home with my photographer husband Andrew and our oversized dachshund Ginger, loving pit bull Henry and our prickly hedgehog Tank. When not on my mat, I love trying new recipes and relaxing with my family and friends. And dancing anytime, anywhere.
